Southern Island Tour/Donkey Sanctuary
The southern island tour will give you a good impression of the colonial history of Bonaire. First of all this trip will take you along the salt pans which shine in colors ranging from pink to purple. A little further along the route you will find the former slave huts. Behind the salt lakes you will see the nestling ground of the flamingos, which you will also see in large numbers at the salt pans. The trip will then take you to Lac Bay with its mangrove area and the conch shells. At the end of the trip a stop will be made at the Donkey's Sanctuary, where wounded and orphaned donkeys find a good refuge, after which you will return to the Resort. This tour is offered on Wednesdays from 8:45 AM until Noon at a cost of US $22.00 per person.
